SportShotz in and around Kent and M25

My aim is to capture the action, the emotion, the energy of any sporting event. This often involves candid shots before, after and during an event, recording the action, elation, the frustration and sometimes the disappointment. It all goes to making a unique record of a match or a race or a contest. Ideal for publication in magazines or journals. As we move into 2011 I am looking forward to adventures into remote capture shots for the football, as well as more rugby, golf, greyhound racing and anything else that gives me a challenge.

The KCPA has selected five of my images for their annual exhibition in Maidstone, Kent. One is from a Point to Point race, one is from Brands Hatch and the other is a football shot. The other two are portraits.

Remote capture photos

9 March 2011

I have been experimenting with some remote capture from a camera set behind the goal at Dartford FC. It was something I wanted to try as I had a spare camera body and wide-angle lens and with a cheap radio trigger thought it would produce some unusual views. It has been a fun ride, the most tricky part is setting the manual focus (as the remote trigger does not work with auto focus). However, below is an example from a day time and a floodlit match.

Iaido, the art of drawing and cutting with a sword, is one of those martial arts that is largely practised as solo kata (or forms) in which the opponent is only visible to the swordsman. Intense concentration, reaction, perfection of technique typify this art. It takes years to perfect, although it looks pretty easy to do.

Club Photographer for Dartford FC

28 August 2010

Since the start of the new season and promotion to the Blue Square South, I am now officially licensed as a Club Photographer. That's good news and bad news. The good news is I can continue to capture the action, the bad news is I can no longer publish them online except via the Club website. Since the new season, Kent On Sunday (KOS Media) have shown an interest in Dartford FC and have used some of my images in their sports pages, so the images will get an airing other than on the Club website.
